Service Description
Each morning of this workshop begins with a demonstration and discussion on simple, proven methods for successful and beautiful paintings. We will begin with some "warm up" brush tenchinques, fun! Students will receive daily individual instruction and critiques to help with a more personalized learning experience. We'll be focusing on the "how-tos" of seeing light on form, understanding temperatures of light and shadow, working with edges in creating depth, and using value sketches in creating fantastic compositions for our paintings. We will be focusing on the landscape and learning new and exciting ways to handle a variety of textures (trees, water, rocks, etc.). Bring your favorite photos of landscapes with great lighting. Photos will be used and explained as a vital and helpful source of information to create that one-of-a-kind painting through the use of light and shadow. Emphasis will be on mastering the handling of exciting techniques in watercolor. Impressionistic, loose, painterly brushstorkes will also be emphasized through numerous demonstrations. Numerous studies will be completed along with more finished paintings to round out the learning process. Carr's passion for art and spirited teaching style makes this workshop a fun and inspiring experience painting in watercolor! Lunch will be served each day. A suggested supply list will be sent to participants 7-10 days ahead of the workshop. Registration deadline: May 30.
